Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Anne Reagin, PMHNP-BC

Throughout my life, I have been drawn to the field of healthcare. Although I initially pursued a career in banking, my passion for helping others ultimately led me to nursing. It was during my grandmother’s end-of-life care, where I witnessed the compassionate support provided by hospice nurses, that I knew nursing was my calling. This experience taught me that even in the most challenging moments, there can be beauty and comfort.

As a stay-at-home mom, I was determined to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood. This period of my life further fueled my desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others through nursing.

From an early age, my son faced psychological challenges that required collaboration between various healthcare professionals and support from our loved ones. This journey taught me the importance of self-reflection and personal growth in order to provide the best care for my child. I discovered the invaluable role of a psychiatric nurse practitioner, which sparked a profound desire to bridge the gap between treated and untreated mental health. For me, “treated” encompasses not only medication but also a holistic approach to care.

My experience as an inpatient case manager allowed me to combine my background in banking and business education with my nursing expertise. I embraced the opportunity to coordinate care for patients, working closely with their families, providers, and other healthcare team members. It became clear to me that factors such as social dynamics, lifestyle choices, and psychological well-being significantly impact an individual’s overall health. Witnessing the transformative effects of mental health treatment further deepened my commitment to making a positive difference.

Today, as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am passionate about early intervention and providing comprehensive care to patients aged 13 and above. I have been fortunate to train under the guidance of Dr. Craig Heacock, a respected expert in the field/host of the popular psychiatry podcast Back from the Abyss, and I continue to benefit from his mentorship and supervision. Additionally, I collaborate with Dr. Heacock on innovative treatments involving ketamine therapy.

My personal journey as a mother, navigating through divorce, learning to love again, and supporting family members with mental illness has profoundly shaped my clinical approach. I bring empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to each individual’s healing journey.

It is my privilege to accompany you on your path towards healing and a more fulfilling life. Together, we can navigate the challenges and embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.
